What is Challenge UMaine?

Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success. – Ernest Shackleton

This sums up the challenge of ministry at UMaine better than anything else. The Christian life is not guaranteed to be easy or safe. It should be an adventure, one that changes you to look more like a hardened traveler – a traveler that looks like Jesus.

Challenge UMaine is a student organization at the University of Maine, Orono that exists to help college students connect with God and other believers.  We want to help you on your spiritual journey no matter what you do or don’t know about Jesus or the Bible.

A great thing about our ministry is we try to offer a variety of things for you to try. We have large group meetings, small groups, and even one-on-one mentoring. We believe that college is one of the most important stages in life, and we are here to invest into the lives of college students, to prepare them to be great followers of Jesus as they go out of UMaine into the “real world.”

Learn more about the Challenge UMaine:

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20, NIV

Are you the family that spoke this past summer at Main Street Baptist Church in Brunswick? Are you still handing out burritos?

Yes we are, and yes we are. So far this fall semester, we have handed out around 800 burritos, give or take 50 or so. Thanks so much for letting us visit Maine Street Baptist Church, it was a great experience for us!
